The present day world has become competitive to no extent and people do not want to miss out on any opportunity that comes their way. They want to bag the first break, be it small or big. Once of the prime concerns in today’s competitive scenario is hunting for a job. If you have been unsuccessful in finding a right job for you, then it could create a depressing situation for you.

Search for a right job

Finding a right job is no doubt an uphill task. Sometimes, people have to spend months looking for a right job. What makes the task even more complicated is that they are not able to find a job that suits their skills and talents. They may find a vacancy where either their skills are inadequate for the required post or they have come across a wrong or a misfit vacancy. You too may be frustrated looking for a job that suits your capabilities. This article will throw some light on how to go about searching the right job for you.

Jobless could make you feel distressful

Not having a job could mean you not only lose respect in your social circle but also become financially dependant on your family members. This can be an embarrassing experience. However, the current strides in technology have made the job search easier. It has become simpler to locate jobs that match your criteria. Before you start your hunt for jobs, it is important that you understand what you really want your job to be.

Talents to match your job

Always begin your search by making a note of your skills and talents. Apart from knowing what your skills are, you should hone them in such a way that they are integrated for the mutual benefit of you and your employer. You need to find out what you are best at. It could be mechanics, engineering, writing or any other off-beat career. Your past job experience is most valuable when you are looking for a new job. The jobs that you have done in your past could unknowingly sharpen your skills in a particular field which could be sought by your future employer. Whatever work you have loved to do in the past should ideally be the basis of your future work. It is crucial that you find out what you love the most doing. A rational understanding of one’s skills can go a long way in landing a right type of job for you.

Right CV

Once you have identified your talents, skills and capabilities, you can then proceed ahead with finding a job that you are passionate about. The next important step when looking for a right job is writing a hard-hitting resume. The resume that your draft for yourself is like your entry pass in the corporate world. Your CV should boast your skills in a way that does not look too over the top and at the same time announces that you are different from others. Your resume will be pitching for you in the cut-throat competitive world.

Many a times, some job seekers take help from professionals for drafting their resume. While this can add a certain professional touch to your CV, in the end your talents and skills are what that matter the most. You might think that just adding your past list of jobs will make you stand out from others. However, you are mistaken. It will only make you look as if you are desperate to find a job. However, the way you present your past experiences will go a long way in making you an ideal candidate for the job. Your resume should confidentially present yourself and the skills you possess.

The automobile industry has seen its share of mergers and divorces in the past decade. While some have continued to sweep the market across, some could not attain their target market share. The latest JV to go separate ways is the Indo-Japanese group
Hero Honda. Though they may have mutually thought that the decision to separate to be beneficial for them, it may have far serious repercussions on various industry arenas.

Hero-Honda splits

The Motorbike JV divorce could mean it either creates more space for individual brand to breathe or it could also lead to disintegration of core brand values due to the separation. Surely, both the companies will face a good number of roadblocks in
their way ahead. However, the pool of opportunities that they will hit upon cannot be ignored.

Past mergers and acquisitions

In the past many mergers and separations have been witnessed. Kawasaki and Bajaj were at one time leading the market with their two-wheelers. Finally, the two parted away and it took some time for Bajaj to regain ground in the two-wheeler market.
Bajaj had its share of luck and now its latest offering, the Pulsar enjoys a comfortable position in the market. Suzuki and TVS also had their union going strong for some time after which they decided it was better to split up. However, one such split which
created some greater repercussions in the in the industry is that of Kinetic and Honda. Kinetic was badly hurt by the split and it was eventually taken over by Indian car maker Mahindra and Mahindra. Mahindra, with its new range of scooters is doing
quite well in the industry though it faces some tough competition from TVS’s latest launch Scooty Pep.

Though it is quite early to tell what ramifications the Hero-Honda Split will have on the industry, many industry experts have varied reviews about the separation. Industry experts feel that brand Hero and brand Honda have brought different brand ethics to the table. In the absence of each other, both will enjoy some amount of freedom while the void will also be felt at a later stage in the individual brand’s life cycle. Their individual paths ahead will open up some new opportunities which were not explored before.

Brand or the sub-brand?

The general feeling is that Hero as a brand will continue to rule the hearts of the mass markets whereas Honda on the other hand, will be more prominent in the high end segment of the market. The separation has also been viewed as something that will
open new export avenues for the Indian Brand. Another sentiment that is felt across is that the Indian brand Hero would sail the storm rather smoothly as it has Passion, Karizma, CBZ and Splendor to rely upon. All these sub-brands demand a large amount of emotional equity for the company and they will successfully help to retain the loyalty each sub-brand demands. Splendor, as a brand name is more popular than Honda. People buy a Splendor, not a Hero Honda Splendor. It clearly means that the
sub-brand enjoys more respect than the parent brand.

Technical know-how

Another body of experts feel that the divorce could mean brand Hero will be deprived of the technical know-how and the technology inputs that it shared with Honda. Lack of technology could mean Hero would have to invest in more manpower and
investment to focus on research and development. The strategies they adopt in future will determine the brand’s existence in the market.

A right job can save your life

It is said that opportunity does not come knocking at your door, you have to proceed towards the opportunity. Mainstream culture has become such that what a person does defines his status quo in the society. Yes, you are right; we are talking about the three
letter word- JOB!

Is your job making you happy?

You may have got the highest of degree from a top reputed college and are pretty sure that you will be landing yourself with the high ranked multinational; however, the insecurity is always there. Once you land up a job, you are not in a position to decide whether it is a right one for you or not.

You may be working for a regular nine to five job. You must be getting a fat check at the end of every month. However, you sometimes wonder, is this you desired in life? There might be some desperate situations when you will feel stressed or even trapped in your job. You may wonder whether your boss is a bigger burden or your targets. Your co-workers could make your job worse. You have no choice but to continue with the job if you are the sole earning member of the family.

At no cost can you risk your future and your loved ones by putting down your papers. Patience is the key word here. Surely, your source of income is something that will make you survive in this materialistic world. However, you need something better
than that. You do not want to make yourself more sluggish day by day and pray that the weekend comes in a wink.

If you feel that you are the only person who is going through such a traumatic phase, then there is some relief in store for you. There are hundreds of people who feel that their job is much boring than anything else in this world. You surely have to find a
way to get out of the mess for your own betterment.

Clear understanding of one’s potential

To start with, you need to have a clear and rational understanding of your skills, talents and capabilities. Before you proceed with anything, jot down a list of assets that you possess. These assets could be anything, right from your educational qualifications, you extra curricular activities, outside experience that you have gained or if you have worked abroad. If you have worked in an overseas location, then this can surely boost your CV. Apart from professional qualifications, you should also have a clear understanding of your personal strengths like whether you are a team player or like to handle tasks individually, good analytical and mathematical skills, eye for detail, patience level, the ability to take risks and your preparedness to handle unwelcome situations. You also will need to understand what level of training you require and whether you are capable enough to start new tasks individually.

Guidance counsellor

Once you have sorted down your strengths and weaknesses, you may have to take the help of a guidance counsellor. Your guidance counsellor will help you get some valuable information on the different booming industry fields and the ones that are
not much in demand. However, this does not mean that you opt for a career where the future looks bright. In the end, it is your hard work and perseverance that pays. A wrong choice of career could mean you remain unhappy with your job all throughout your life.

Telemarketers are sales and marketing representatives who do business strictly by telephone. A wide variety of products and services from office supplies to savings accounts to resort memberships are sold through telemarketing. Some specialists sell directly, while others gather information that will help identify potential customers or determine the success of new products. Many telemarketers are required to call people from a long list of names. Once telemarketers engage a potential customer on the phone, they must read a scripted sales pitch to the customer in an attempt to sell him or her a product. In some instances telemarketers make up their own sales script but more often than not the script is provided to them by their employers. Telemarketers may also be responsible for generating their own list of names from telephone directories and lists purchased by their company. The duties of telemarketers may include confirming orders placed with field representatives and conducting marketing surveys to find sales prospects. In some cases telemarketing is only one part of a company’s overall sales operation, and the telephone specialists work as a team with direct-mail or field experts. In these instances telemarketers typically target people who have already purchased merchandise from the company.

Explain products or services and prices, and answer questions from customers and obtain customer information such as name, address, and payment method, and enter orders into computers. Record names, addresses, purchases, and reactions of prospects contacted and adjust sales scripts to better target the needs and interests of specific individuals. Answer telephone calls from potential customers who have been solicited through advertisements as well as telephone or write letters to respond to correspondence from customers or to follow up initial sales contacts. Are some of their duties!

A hotel manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of a hotel and its staff. They have commercial accountability for budgeting and financial management, planning, organising and directing all hotel services, including front-of-house (reception, concierge, and reservations), food and beverage operations and housekeeping. In larger hotels, managers often have a specific remit (guest services, accounting, and marketing) and make up a general management team. While taking a strategic overview and planning ahead to maximize profits, the manager must also pay attention to the details, setting the example for staff to deliver a standard of service and presentation that meets guests’ needs and expectations. Business and people management are equally important elements.

The job of an Hotel manager is more compelling and tiresome as in case of a Five Star hotels where there are large number of employees under his wings as compared to a small hotel, and above that he has to co-ordinate the entire operation of the Hotel and handle the staff, and oversee their behavior, these becomes more complicated during the season period, when tourist folk in, as well as the number of people who are staying also increase, during this period the Hotel manager has the additional responsibility of recruiting more staff!

One can pursue a Career in Hotel management through various courses, earlier a Hotel Managers position was conferred through the hierarchical promotions, that is the traditional model, though today one can study Hotel Management and the various diverse faculties that HM provides. There are various national as well as international colleges that provide Hotel Management course, prominent being IHM (Indian school of Hotel Management).

Human resources managers manage the needs of a company’s employees. They develop and manage employment programs, salary compensation and job evaluations, benefits, promotions, equal opportunity initiatives, and education and training programs. In large companies one human resources manager may be in charge of each of these areas. However, in small or medium companies the human resources manager may manage the human resources operation of the entire business.

Human resources managers must be highly qualified and experienced. There are many state and federal regulations in place to protect employees, and the manager must know and follow these regulations. If a company’s hiring or promotion policies do not follow these regulations, the government may penalize it. Some Major Functions are as follows:

Resource Hunting and Recruitment

The entire process of recruitment is monitored by the human resource manager. The human resource manager’s duties consist of job posting, hiring, conducting recruitment exams (if any) and interviewing.

Coaching the Employees

Training the employees is another important duty of a human resource manager. Why is training so essential? Well, every organization has its specific organizational culture and it is expected that the employees follow it. Induction and orientation lectures are the initial periods of training, wherein the employees get to know the work culture of the company.

Motivation and Performance Appraisal

Motivation is a key to trigger the performance of an employee. An average employee may turn into an outstanding performer on being motivated. A human resource manager conducts sessions and lectures that keep the employees aware about the growing competition in the market and the need to constantly upgrade the skills of the employees.

Salary and Payroll Negotiations

Though salary related issues are a responsibility of the accounts department of the firm, still, in the initial stages of recruitment, the human resource manager handles the salary issues of an employee.

Employee Satisfaction and Feedback

Are the employees satisfied with the facilities of the firm? Are any issues that are causing unrest among the employees There may be differences in the ideas/opinions of the various employees, hence it is the duty of the HR Manager to salvage these issues.

A receptionist is usually the first person a visitor, client or patient meets or speaks to on the phone. As a receptionist it’s down to you to make that all important, good first impression, so above anything else you’ll need to have a good rapport with people to make them feel looked after and at ease. The world is your oyster when deciding where you want to work as just about every organisation has at least one receptionist. If you don’t think the corporate world is for you, think about becoming a receptionist at a school or hospital or if you have a passion for sport, you could think about working at a leisure centre.

Larger companies tend to have busier reception desks so here you might be part of a small reception and security team. Working for a small company you’ll be able to take on some additional administrative work. If you choose to work as a doctors’ or dentists’ receptionist you’ll probably be expected to make appointments as part of the job. In addition to greeting visitors, receptionists frequently answer phones, compose documents and letters, and perform other clerical tasks around the office. In many firms the receptionist keeps a log of each day’s visitors, noting arrival and departure times. Other duties may include taking down client’s personal information, sorting mail, maintaining a log of employee attendance, proofreading outgoing letters, reports, and e-mails, and keeping the reception area neat.

All kinds of businesses employ receptionists, from beauty shops to factories to doctors’ offices. In these and many other businesses, the pleasant demeanor of an efficient receptionist is an asset.

Travel Agents

Travel agents plan itineraries for their clients, scheduling and booking tours, lodging and reservations for all activities. The travel agent has to learn the clients’ expectations, including the destination, type of transport, travel dates, budget, required accommodations and special requirements. Travel agents also work with travel providers, such as hoteliers, tour guide companies, airlines, car rental companies, tourism bureaus and others in the hospitality industry. Agents make clients aware of various promotions offered by travel providers.

Tour Guides

Owners and operators of tour guide companies host groups of people on tours. Some tours involve chartering buses or passenger vans for day trips. Longer trips may include air or train travel, and lodging. Tour guides plan the trip from beginning to end, including all the stops, attractions visited, meals, transportation and accommodations. The traveler pays a flat fee that includes all the components of the trip. Tour guides work with transportation providers, hoteliers and various tourism attractions to put together the best package for a price that will be acceptable to the targeted group of clients.

Hotel Management

Tourism bureaus promote all the lodging in their area. Bed and breakfast owners and hotel managers are expected to provide not only lodging for their guests, but all the extras they require, such as special pillows, room service and other amenities. They also give guests information about the local area, directions to destinations, and suggestions on what there is to see and do. Managers must also keep peace between guests if one guest’s next-door-neighbor becomes loud and unruly, causing the neighbor to lose sleep.

Resort employees

Employees in resorts around the country, help keep the resort in perfect condition and functioning smoothly. These places have huge staffs, and each staff member has his or her own area of responsibility. Most resorts have their own public relations staff, groundskeepers, building maintenance, hospitality hosts, and other staff, based on the needs of each particular resort.

Food providers

Some food providers at tourism destinations are attractions in themselves, Tourism promoters–whether travel agents, tour guides or tourism bureau employees–try to make certain their clients experience food on their trips that is the area’s specialty. Independent restaurants, rather than chains, are often chosen because they are unique and cannot be experienced on trips to other destinations.

Hospital doctors apply medical knowledge and skills to the diagnosis, prevention and management of disease. They work in wards and out-patient clinics, predominantly in the public sector but also in the private sector. Treating patients, as well as they refer them to a wide range of other health care professionals, including nurses, radiographers, pharmacists and physiotherapists. Family and general practitioners are often the first doctors that people go to when they get sick, these doctors treat common problems. They also send patients to other doctors, called specialists. Specialists are experts in specific types of health problems. For example, internists focus on problems with internal organs. Pediatricians care for children and babies. Surgeons perform operations, like fixing broken bones or transplanting organs.

Most doctors are doctors of medicine (M.D.) and they treat all kinds of diseases and injuries. Some doctors are doctors of osteopathic medicine (D.O.). They focus on muscles and bones. Of all jobs, being a doctor usually pays the most money, and specialists usually make more. How much they earn also depend on how long they had been doctors as well as the area of they have been working.

Job opportunities for doctors are expected to be good, especially in rural and low-income areas. Some of these areas do not have enough doctors, though the toil is as enormous as the reward is, as only through hardwork and dedication can one be a successful doctor. And the educational qualification too is as demanding and stressful, there are limited number seats reserved for MBBS which is the basic graduation degree in Medicine and is 5 years course, and specialization for particular fields takes another 2-3 years followed by practice.
